Spiritual Wellbeing and Development for the Whole School Community
Three Twilight Sessions
Research-based, fully funded support and training for school communities
Achieving a definition and understanding of spirituality and spiritual wellbeing
that reflects your school’s vision and intention
Our Aims
- To strengthen the resilience, wellbeing and potential of staff, pupils and the wider school community.
- To clarify and put into practice a contemporary understanding of spiritual development.
- Driven by research and action-learning, partnering with schools to understand what works in practice.
Outcomes
By the end of the training staff will be able to:
- Engage in reflective conversations about the contemporary culture of spirituality in a way that is welcomed by people of faith and no faith.
- Summarise the evidence base for the health benefits of spirituality.
- Describe key elements of spirituality that can benefit physical and mental health.
- Practice somatic awareness to self-regulate their psychology, physiology, resilience and wellbeing.
- Reflect on the benefits of spirituality for their own and another’s health and wellbeing.
- Demonstrate the communication skills of whole body listening and giving compassionate care.
- Model and enable somatic awareness for children and young people.
- Integrate into classroom activities, tutorials, curriculum delivery and collective worship elements of spirituality and somatic awareness.
- Articulate a definition of spirituality and spiritual wellbeing that reflects their school’s vision and intention.
Delivery
Delivery is over three twilight sessions. These sessions build over the period of delivery and staff are supported with resources between sessions. For integration, we suggest that there be no more than 10 weeks between sessions. In between sessions, support and research will be available. We also request that once the session dates are agreed that they stay fixed as a formal agreement.
The three sessions are followed by ongoing support and research, to monitor and develop good practice that can be shared more widely.
We are also happy to come in beforehand and deliver a 30-minute taster that gives you and your team an overview.
Resources
We are also funded to develop resources that can be directly relevant to your school and developed in partnership with you.
Ongoing Support
We recognise that ongoing support is needed to ensure the success of implementing new initiatives. Following our sessions, we are committed to continuing to support your school throughout your journey of development.
