Spiritual Coaches and Caregivers

Spiritual Coaches and Caregivers play a vital role in guiding individuals through life’s challenges by offering emotional, mental, and spiritual support. Their work fosters healing, resilience, and growth by creating safe spaces for reflection, encouragement, and empowerment.

About the UK Register of Spiritual Coaches & Caregivers (UKRSC)

There is a significant and growing community of people who identify as spiritual-but-not-religious (SNR) and who require appropriate spiritual care. This community is increasingly visible, yet it has not always been recognised or integrated into key areas such as education, healthcare, and government policy.

The UK Register of Spiritual Coaches & Caregivers (UKRSC) exists to meet this need. It is a professional register of trained individuals — both volunteers and professionals — who provide compassionate, respectful, and holistic spiritual care.

Our members are service and community-oriented, deeply respectful of all faiths, and committed to supporting individuals in ways that affirm their personal spirituality.

We offer access to the UK Register of Spiritual Coaches & Caregivers — a trusted network providing holistic, person-centred support. Members commit to listen with compassion, discretion, and respect; be calm and kind in challenges; take time for grace and guidance; value each individual’s spirituality; work alongside other agencies; and honour faith traditions. This ensures reliable, inclusive care rooted in integrity and wellbeing. By engaging with our register, you connect with skilled professionals.

Our Approach to Spirituality

We take a person-centred approach, encouraging individuals to develop their own understanding of spirituality. At the same time, our definition provides a clear framework:

Spirituality is everyone’s natural connection with the wonder and energy of life (by whatever name), and the instinct to explore that experience and its meaning. It affirms that life’s journey is about the growth of compassion, connection, and consciousness.

Our role is not to replace or represent traditional faith communities. Instead, we provide humane, compassionate, and respectful spiritual care, supporting those who describe themselves as spiritual-but-not-religious while cooperating with faith-based chaplaincies and interfaith groups.

Our Commitments

Every registrant of the UKRSC abides by our Code of Conduct and governance policies. Members are committed to:

  • Listening with compassion, discretion, and respect

  • Being calm, centred, and kind in challenging circumstances

  • Taking time for grace, healing, and guidance

  • Valuing each individual’s spirituality

  • Cooperating with other support agencies

  • Respecting the unique role of traditional faith communities

Membership & Professional Recognition

The Register is hosted by the Spiritual Companions Trust (SCT), which administers the Register, provides governance, and maintains the Code of Conduct.

We recognise qualifications from caring professions including counselling, psychotherapy, nursing, medicine, spiritual healing, and our own Diploma in Practical Spirituality & Wellness (Ofqual-accredited, Level 3). A qualification in Listening Skills (Level 3 or equivalent) is also required.
